Academics

In Theta Chi, we pride ourselves on our history of strong academic achievement and our respect for alma mater. This is reflected in our fraternity's maxim: "Alma Mater First, and Theta Chi for Alma Mater". We believe that if a brother doesn't improve academically after having joined Theta Chi, then the fraternity has failed him.

As such, we do our best to foster an atmosphere conducive to academic achievement. All chapters of Theta Chi have a special officer position, the Librarian, devoted solely to scholarship and academics. The Librarian is charged with the care of the fraternity's library, and is responsible for inviting professors to attend our weekly chapter dinners. In addition, the chapter holds a yearly Scholarship Dinner, to honor brothers who demonstrate high academic achievement.

We realize that many potential new members have some very legitimate concerns about balancing greek life with scholarship. Well, we'd like to assure you that it can and is balanced, everyday, by the fine brothers of Theta Chi. You are free to involve yourself as much or as little as you feel appropriate, and another brother will never pressure you to attend a fraternity activity if you feel that you need to focus on your schoolwork.

Chapter GPA

Since our chapter re-chartered in 2006, the brothers of Theta Chi have consistently maintained high standards of academic excellence. During the recent Fall 2007 semester, for example, the brothers of our house achieved an average GPA of 3.49, the highest of any IFC fraternity on the row. 47% of our brothers achieved a semester GPA above 3.5, 81% achieved a GPA above 3.0, and every single brother had a 2.0 or better.
